Anyone have experience with a PTO Cement Mixer?
Have a Kubota 3410 but it doesn't have the rear hydraulic hose plumbed in yet.
Looking for type, size and price recommendations.

I bought one with my 4200 because I had a lot of dirt to smooth, move around, etc. Now that's done and I'm still using it every week. Yesterday I used it to help stand up one side of a fort I'm building for my son. I seldom disconnect it. Could not live without it now. If you ever move a wheelbarrow's worth of dirt, it's nice to have. I believe few people part with their loaders, except to buy a new one. My old quotes from 6-months back give a price of $2500 for 420 loader and $625 for the valving.

Dealer should be able to add mid-pto. I was quoted $275 six months ago on new tractor, not sure what price will be now.

Have a 4200 4wd with R4, but manual transmission. Have used loader to move all kinds of dirt and clay. No problem. It will bog only slightly when completely filled with damp soil or clay. I simply adjust with more throttle. Don't have weights, but leave shredder attached unless manueverability is tight. I also use loader for all the leveling jobs I should probably buy a box blade for. But that would require unhooking shredder which I use too frequently. Don't have mid mower, but need one. Don't miss hydro, since I've never had it. Manual handles loader well even though everyone says get hydro for loader. Manual allows me to really plow into pile and grab a bucketful. I do most all loader work in mid-range, but will occassionally switch to low for moving a heavy load if ground is sloped a lot or uneven (tipping, weights would help here). I would not consider a lighter tractor for this unless your talking a smaller loader and lighter duty work, like a wheelbarrow's worth once in a while.

Have a 410 also. A couple of pints! A quart sounds like a lot to me. Mine will drip a little, which I don't mind. I'd rather they drip oil out then suck dirt in. Definitely check for dirt or a chunk of something which is holding the quick connect open. Also, maybe this is a shot in the dark, but could there be air in the cylinders. The air would expand or contract with temperature (more than oil) and possibly push oil out. But you should know if there is air - operation would be spongy.

Check the archives. There are several good posts about this problem. One good suggestion which I found works is to wait 2-3 seconds after shifting to neutral before shifting to next gear. And always shift gear to neutral before shifting range lever. (all this you read in the manual of course). And one post said something about cutting out some plastic guard underneath that the lever hits. (I haven't tried this yet.) Good luck.

Be careful what you spray on the seals or any rubber. Some sprays may be cut with solvents, which will reduce rubber life, possibly through cracking. You may not notice any deterioration for years, but it could happen.

Now I thought with about 100 trees on my property that this was a legitimate question. Plus I am planning on putting in an orchard of pecan and fruit trees. That's a lot of weedeating... Actually I like the sheep idea. I have been thinking about some goats for a while but do not have the outer fence secure enough. The movable electric fence might be the best answer. But I still need to figure out how to trim those hedges.

I've got many of the same problems: knobs hit in low range reverse, hard to shift, etc. I thought it was just my lack of experience. Problem is I don't have the extra cash to get into the hydro. If I did it would go toward other implements I still need. I am hoping that it will hold it's value and I can sell in a year or to and upgrade. 4200 4wd.

Does that mean that my 4200 will command a pretty good resale value. I can see selling it and buying bigger in the future. Of course I don't know what will be around to replace it.

This is a good article which I have read before. I have the same problem with jd4200, except my creek is sloped so I can back all the way down it. But it takes a lot of time this way. I've wondered about a statement in my manual that says something about you should not use 4 wheel drive on a steep slope because you could lose traction. (Ido'nt have manual with me right now so this may be wrong.) What does this mean? I bought 4wd for this very reason.
